Friday Session 1D
Convener: Margo, Microsoft and Megan/OuterWall and Dorkadia
Notetaker: Heather, Microsoft

Specific Resources that Surface in Your Session
Hootsuite.com
Tweriod.com

Notes and/or 3-5 key points discussed:
Discussion led by Margo from MSFT and Megan, Social Media at OuterWall and contributor/admin for Dorkadia.com

Challenges
What to tweet
When to Tweet
How do you expand twitter network
What kind of content to consume- personal versus professional
How important are hash tags

What to tweet
Great handle with cool graphics or pics but the owner ONLY posts jobs every few days.  Not engaging, not diverse
Good rule is to target
30% Original content
30% retweets
30% replying to others
This creates diversity in your content and profile

When to Tweet?
Tools like Tweriod.com – you can enter twitter hash tags or handles and it will share analytics around when those accounts have the most activity so you can target your tweets or content to those times.

So much content to sift through how do you make sense and float interesting content to the top?
Tool called Hootsuite – aggregator that will track multiple social media outlets and you can select twitter handles/hash tags that interest you. Set up Push notifications that will alert you via mobile when someone responds or forwards your post.
*hootsuite premium (paid subscription will provide you analytics on reach and response)

So many channels!?
LinkedIn- obviously geared more professional
Facebook- largest growing adoption population is Baby boomers
Twitter- Millenia generation/Gen X and Y
Twitter Gen Y
Instagram- heavily social, younger crowd
Snapchat – tween gens

Other thoughts:
People frame their opinion of you by who you follow
Be thoughtful, More authentic and your followers will reflect that
