- Set up profile & Links to establish identity
- Choose whether to protect updates or remain transparent
- Use search.twitter.com, or follow your friends.
- Watch how others do it, then start to play.
- Say something meaningful.
Why is twitter different?
- less stable
- more private
- totally customizable--tweetdeck & search feeds let you refine your content
- immediacy: applies to news, business updates, disasters, citizen journalism, food/activity suggestions, instant advice
- publicity raises issue awareness
- harness network and the RT to spread messages
Things to Do/Pay attention to
- pay attention to your bio, it lets others know who you are
- think like you tweet--be concise
- join twitter groups w/weekly discussions
- go to tweet-ups to meet twitter friends in real life
