objectives – SMART
strategies 1, 2, 3 support that strategy
tactics does this tactic support the first two
resources – who is involved, identify the champion
timeline – when, how much time do we have
say you have 10 things on the table
sticky notes and a 4 box grid
4 quadrants Lo / Hi
x = resources
y = impact
transform your business
transform the world
get used to waking up early, give yourself the time to look at your objectives while you are fresh.
What time of day do you do your best type of this work.
7a – 10a XYZ
what time are meetings best for you
have an end time…(especially if you started at 5a)
carve out an 1.5 to strategies a meeting
schedule a reset – walk the dog, step away, laundry
no meeting time slot (or day)
OR NIGHT OWL’s…accept your gift and do 2 productive hours at 10p
What is healthy for you?
Put your health 1st…it’s your responsibility
pause for deep processing – are & music time, processing info more deeply during this break time.
Showers are best time to come up with great ideas
White noise in the shower (planes have white noise)
Put your headphones on
Instead of an 8.5 x 11 use mind mapping
Create a picture – remember more if you “experience it,” then visual, then auditory, then reading…(something like that)
Alpha, Beta, Gamma Days
• Beta – list, do everything you can to get through the list
• Gamma – transition days (traveling, appointments, etc. you work in the other things)
• Alpha – 24 hours of nothing to do with that creative project (no reading book about “it”, get sleep, don’t talk about it, no reference of the project) note: you may have to get passed the stress of not doing anything, get over the guilt.
This organization style helps if you have days (work from home) doing something that should take an hour but you took all day to do it. WFH can be tough when you don’t have anyone to set pace or create the energy of an office.
Staying motivated or to helping yourself to STOP
find 8 stones…move them into a bowl for every hour/productive sessions of work (whatever you want that session time to be.) having something physical/visual…helps. if it is 3p and you have only moved 3 stones–you know you wasted time.
if you need to spend 15 hours on a project…find 15 colored stones to help you visualize your progress.
game-ification…compete with the stones.
